UMA (Universal Mechanical Assistant) is a Paris-based robotics company founded in 2025 by former Tesla Optimus, Google DeepMind and Hugging Face researchers, including LeRobot creator Rémi Cadene. The company designs general-purpose mobile and humanoid robots with human-level dexterity, built on physical AI and robot learning. Its longer-term goal is a humanoid, with a wheeled industrial robot as the first product. UMA plans pilot programmes in logistics and manufacturing during 2026. It reports talks with around 50 potential customers and has conducted site visits, though it has not publicly confirmed its funding.
