About the role
Software Engineer: Test & Manufacturing Systems About the Role Every robot that leaves our production line has to work. You will build the software that proves it. You will write the test scripts that run at each stage of production, and build the system that stores and retrieves what each stage records - so any robot can be traced back through its full build history. You will build the tooling our QA and QE teams depend on, in the lab and on the factory floor: test scripts for repeatable verification, and GUI tools that let operators run those tests and read results without touching the code underneath. You will also own hardware-in-the-loop verification in the lab. Every time a stage or QA branch merges, HIL runs. You will design the scenarios, confirm existing behavior still holds, and verify new features work on real hardware before they reach a robot in the field. This work sits between engineering and manufacturing. The systems you build decide how early we catch a defect, and how confidently we ship. Key Areas Required Qualifications • 3+ years of professional software development experience, with strong Python engineering skills. • Experience writing automated tests in code and wiring them into a CI pipeline that runs on every merge. • Ability to read hardware and system documentation, write software that talks to equipment, and debug across the software-hardware boundary. • Experience designing a data layer that stores and retrieves structured records - schema design and a service API such as REST or gRPC - for data that is queried long after it is written. • Experience building web services on a modern web stack such as React and TypeScript. • Working knowledge of Linux and Git-based version control in a team. Preferred Qualifications • Experience in a QA or QE organization - test planning, defect tracking, or owning a verification process. • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) benches or automated test equipment. • Experience with manufacturing systems such as MES, traceability, or production data pipelines. • Familiarity with ROS/ROS2 and with robot or embedded system bring-up and diagnostics. • Experience packaging tools with Docker and running them on lab or factory machines. • Experience working alongside operators and technicians, and improving tools from what you saw them do.
