About the role
Software Engineer: Manufacturing Data & Tools About the Role You build the data systems and operating tools our robot production runs on, from the data model and backend APIs that hold each robot's build history to the web interfaces operators and technicians use every day. Records and inspection results from each production stage are linked to the robot and the part they belong to, so a build history can be looked up and a problem traced long after a robot ships. You also build the tools that let people on the floor run tests and read the results without touching code. You work with production and test engineers, learn how the floor actually works, and improve the systems for usability and reliability based on what their users tell you. Key Areas What You'll Do • Design and build the data model and backend APIs that store and retrieve build history and inspection results. • Link records across robots, parts and production stages, and build the features that trace their history. • Build the web UI operators use to run tests and check results. • Integrate with the test systems to collect inspection results and attach them to the build history. • Deploy, run and improve the systems based on what the floor needs. Required Qualifications • 3+ years of professional software development. • Experience designing database schemas and building service APIs such as REST or gRPC. • Experience building web applications on a modern stack such as React and TypeScript. • Able to understand what users need and turn it into concrete features. • Working knowledge of Linux and Git. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with manufacturing systems such as MES, build traceability, or production data pipelines. • Experience keeping data consistent when it arrives from several systems. • Experience improving tools alongside operators and technicians on the floor. • Experience with Python. • Experience packaging applications with Docker and running them in lab or factory environments.
