Monumental designs, builds and operates a fleet of autonomous robots that lay bricks on live construction sites. The robots run on Atrium, the company's own integrated software stack, which spans low-level microcontrollers through to the user interface. The company was founded in 2021 in Amsterdam with the aim of keeping housing affordable as skilled labour becomes scarcer. It has built walls for more than 100 homes, plus a school, a community centre, a hotel and canal walls. Monumental operates in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and, from 2026, the United States. Its 2026 Series B of $32 million, led by Khosla Ventures, is funding a larger robot fleet and engineering team.
