About the role

Robotics Systems Engineer About mkind mkind is an early-stage robotics startup on a mission to automate the hardest, most painful manual industrial tasks. We build fully flexible, intelligent robotic work cells for surface finishing, welding, and coating. We are a small, focused team moving fast and building things that matter in the physical world. About the Role We're looking for a Systems Engineer to build and deploy our robotic work cells. The role includes building research prototypes in our lab, scaling our data collection infrastructure, and integrating cells at customer sites end to end, including the safety concept and CE certification. We believe great engineering means continuously iterating on a product to hide more and more of its technical complexity from the user. That idea is at the core of this role. You'll turn what we learn in the lab and at customer sites into steady improvements that make our cells simpler to install, operate, and maintain. This is a generalist role with broad exposure across mechanical and electrical systems, deployment, and direct customer work. You'll work closely with our robot learning and AI engineers. What You'll Do • Design and build robot cells, data collection setups, and new research prototypes in our lab. • Integrate our cells at customer sites with close attention to detail, aiming for a frictionless installation and a smooth interface for operators. This includes developing a robust safety concept and taking each deployment through CE certification. • Continuously improve our cells based on what we learn in the lab and in the field. Examples include improving our robot controller, integrating and testing new sensors, or refining our auto-calibration. What We're Looking For • A degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, or equivalent hands-on experience • Hands-on experience building physical systems • Comfort working across the full hardware stack • An obsession with detail and the drive to hide technical complexity behind a seamless customer experience • Fluent German and comfort working directly with customers on-site • The drive to grow with the team and take on increasing ownership. We actively welcome junior candidates Nice to Have • Prior exposure to CE certification or compliance processes for industrial equipment • Experience with industrial deployments or commissioning on customer sites • Familiarity with robotics, automation, or manufacturing environments Compensation & Location • Location: Munich, Germany (on-site) • Equity participation as an early team member
