About the role
About Vitestro Founded in 2017 in Utrecht, Vitestro is pioneering the future of blood collection with the Aletta® Autonomous Robotic Phlebotomy Device™ (ARPD™). This groundbreaking medical device combines advanced multi-modal imaging (near-infrared, ultrasound, and Doppler ultrasound) with robotics and AI to perform the entire diagnostic blood draw procedure autonomously. By addressing critical healthcare staffing shortages and improving patient experience, Vitestro is transforming one of the most common and essential medical procedures. With more than 130 team members and growing rapidly, we are scaling our impact. As we placed our first devices with customers, we are now expanding our team to ensure successful implementation and long-term reliability. At Vitestro, we are committed to continuous innovation and improvement. As a Medior C++ Engineer, you will take ownership of software components within our hardware-integrated systems. You will design, implement, and improve robust C++ software that interacts with multiple subsystems, and real-time environments. You will collaborate closely with hardware engineers, systems engineers, and other software developers to ensure system reliability, maintainability, and performance. First months at Vitestro In your first months, you get to know Vitestro's software architecture, hardware-integrated systems, and development processes. You build an understanding of how our software interacts with different subsystems and start contributing to the design, implementation, and improvement of software components in modern C++ (C++17/20). Working closely with hardware engineers, systems engineers, and other software developers, you become familiar with our state-machine-based logic, DDS communication protocols, and Linux and real-time environments. You contribute to debugging, automated testing, and code reviews while building the knowledge needed to take ownership of software components. After your first month you will be able to contribute to the velocity of the team by working on new features in the scope of the motion team. You will be able to solve complex integration issues coming from production and the field. This is what success looks like After 12 months, you have taken ownership of software components within our hardware-integrated systems. You confidently design, implement, and maintain robust C++ software that interacts with multiple subsystems and real-time environments. You actively contribute to improving the existing software architecture, ensuring maintainability, scalability, and performance. You design and maintain structured state-machine-based logic, integrate evolving hardware components into the software stack, and contribute to system-level design discussions and technical decisions. You work effectively with hardware engineers, systems engineers, and other software developers to debug complex issues across software and hardware boundaries. You have contributed to improving testability and automated verification strategies, actively participate in code reviews, and help raise software quality standards. After your first year, you will own significant nontrivial features and parts of the code-base of the team. You will be a key knowledge holder of the implementation of the motion software unit as well as accuracy calibrations and verifications. You actively engage in building the roadmap for the coming years together with other engineers.
