RISE Robotics is a Somerville, Massachusetts company developing fluid-free electric actuation for heavy machinery. Its flagship Beltdraulic cylinder replaces hydraulic systems, which it says can be up to three times faster, with no fire hazard and a lighter build. The technology works with any power source, from diesel engines to electric and hydrogen, and is sold to Tier 1 suppliers, OEMs and the US Department of Defence. The company also offers a developer kit for Raspberry Pi and Nvidia Jetson platforms. Founded in 2011 by MIT and RISD graduates, RISE reports over $9 million in product and contract revenue. Its backers include The Engine, Techstars and Fortistar Capital, and it has raised more than $22 million across equity rounds, with a current Reg CF crowdfunding campaign still open.
