iRobot is a Bedford, Massachusetts consumer robotics company best known for its Roomba robot vacuums and Braava floor mops. Founded in 1990 by MIT roboticists, it has sold over 50 million robots according to its website. The company sells its products directly through its own online store and retail partners, with bundles, mop combos and accessories forming a large part of its range. In December 2025, iRobot agreed to be acquired by Picea, its secured lender and primary contract manufacturer, through a court-supervised Chapter 11 process. The company's long-term future now depends on that transaction.
