KAIKAKU is a London-based food robotics company that builds Fusion, a back-of-house automation platform combining robotic food-assembly hardware with AI software. The system is designed to make restaurant operations more scalable and less dependent on labour. The company was founded in 2023 by Josef Chen, Ivan Tregear and Piers Millar. It opened Common Room, a robot-powered restaurant in London, to test and prove its technology in live service. KAIKAKU reports claimed outcomes of up to 360 bowls per hour, around 70% labour savings and a one-hour deployment time. Its platform was tested across large multi-site foodservice chains. In 2026, the company was acquired by REEF, a SoftBank-backed food platform.
