Our robot Sonny does handwork, using two arms to achieve human-like dexterity in picking and packing. Founded at MIT and headquartered in Watertown, MA, we do it all in-house: the robotics hardware, the machine learning, and the field deployment and service. The Role Tutor is hiring a Head of Quality to lead quality as a function, alongside the Head of Manufacturing. You own the quality system, supplier quality across our supply base, product safety certifications, and the quality targets the company holds itself to. The quality engineers and the quality manager report to you, and you grow the team from there. You report to the CTO. As our operations organization grows, you and the Head of Manufacturing will report to the leader of that organization. This is a building role. The first pieces, incoming inspection, supplier controls and failure analysis, are being put in place by the team you will lead. Your job is to turn them into a system that holds as production grows, a supplier base we can trust, and a quality record that customers and certifying bodies can verify. You have the authority to hold any shipment that is not right.
