About the role

Senior Technical Project Manager – Robotics Job Type: Permanent, Full-time Location: Cambridge, UK (Hybrid) Requirements: Candidates eligible for UK employment Company Overview:Fieldwork Robotics is a pioneering autonomous robotics company that develops modular, multi-crop, soft, and adaptive robots designed to operate in complex agricultural environments. Our innovative solutions focus on delivering advanced technologies to enhance efficiency and productivity in the agriculture sector. We have an established R&D team in Portugal to compliment the HQ based in Cambridge and currently work with farms across the UK, Europe, and Australia. Fieldwork Robotics is currently backed by £3M+ in private investment and Innovate UK grant funding, looking to open a Series A shortly. The Role:Reporting to the CTO, you will lead the delivery of robotic products from planning and integration through manufacture, field deployment, and operational handover. Working across engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and field operations, you will turn commercial priorities into clear plans, manage risk and dependencies, and help bring products to market for customers in the UK, Australia, and the USA. The role also offers the opportunity to broaden your product management experience across the Fieldwork Robotics roadmap. What you’ll be doing: • Own end-to-end delivery of integrated hardware and software products, from scope and planning through validation, deployment, and handover. • Build cross-functional plans covering milestones, resources, budgets, acceptance criteria, dependencies, and critical-path activities. • Maintain proportionate governance, including risks, issues, decisions, change control, status reporting, and escalation. • Coordinate system integration, verification, commissioning, field trials, suppliers, and customer interfaces. • Work with technical leads to prioritise defects, remove blockers, and balance speed with safety, quality, reliability, and maintainability. • Lead the transition from engineering development into repeatable manufacture and use field data to improve future delivery. • Project manage grant funded projects that align with the technical roadmap. What we’re looking for: • Proven delivery of complex, integrated hardware and software products in robotics, mechatronics, industrial automation, or a related environment. • Enough technical depth to engage credibly with engineers, understand systemlevel issues, challenge assumptions, and facilitate trade-offs without replacing technical leads. • Strong experience managing scope, schedules, budgets, resources, dependencies, risks, stakeholders, and operational handover. • Clear written and verbal communication, strong facilitation skills, sound judgement, and comfort working in a fast-changing startup environment. • Experience using Jira Kan ban timeline to deliver software and hardware projects to agreed outcomes. • Experience with tools such as Jira and practical Agile, requirements, change, release, and risk-management approaches. • Degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant discipline. Desirable Skills: • Experience with agricultural, mobile, autonomous, outdoor, or safety-related robotic systems. • Experience in new product introduction, manufacturing transfer, commissioning, systems engineering, or regulatory compliance. • Experience with Microsoft Project. • Familiarity with ROS 2, embedded Linux, perception, controls, cloud platforms, or fleet operations. What We Offer: • Contributory company pension scheme (Employer fixed 5%, Employee minimum 3%) • 25 days holiday + statutory bank holidays, pro-rated as appropriate + Christmas shutdown • Individuals may be invited to join the company share option scheme • Other benefits may be offered from time to time • Company social events • Employee Assistance Program • Casual dress • On-site: • Free parking • Gym (personal contract or pay as you go) • Coffee shop, Café and 24-hour vending machines • Free tea, coffee and fruit in the office • Air-conditioned offices • On-site games room • On-site beauty salon Fieldwork Robotics is an equal opportunity employer.
