Icarus Robotics builds general-purpose robots for orbital work, aiming to create a robotic labour force for space stations. Its dual-arm, fan-propelled free-flying robots are designed to handle cargo logistics, stowage, inspection and eventually station maintenance. The company is starting with teleoperated robots and plans to use data gathered in microgravity to train autonomous, embodied-AI models. Its first intravehicular robot, Joy, is scheduled for International Space Station deployment in 2027 through a partnership with Voyager Technologies. Founded in 2024 by Ethan Barajas and Jamie Palmer, the New York-based startup raised a $6.1 million seed round in September 2025. It is a small team with ties to NASA and commercial station developers.
