Hello Robot builds Stretch, a lightweight, contact-sensitive mobile manipulator designed to work safely alongside people in homes, workplaces and care settings. The platform ships with an open-source ROS 2 and Python SDK, reference demos for autonomy and physical AI, and self-charging calibration out of the box. The company sells to researchers through its open platform community, to enterprise teams for application development and feasibility pilots, and to individuals through its Stretch Assist programme, which supports people with severe mobility impairments. Its robots are designed and assembled in-house in Martinez, California. Founded in 2017 by CEO Aaron Edsinger and CTO Charlie Kemp, the company has been funded largely by non-dilutive research grants, including a roughly $3 million Phase IIB SBIR award from the National Institute on Ageing in 2026.
