Luminous Robotics builds LUMI, a fleet of AI-enabled pick-and-place robots that install solar panels onto racks at utility-scale and distributed solar construction sites. The company designs, builds and deploys embodied AI systems for harsh, manual industrial work. The business model centres on robotic fleets delivered as a service, which the company says shortens build times and improves worker safety. Its first prototype installed a solar farm in Virginia within ten weeks of founding. Founded in 2023 at MassRobotics, the company is headquartered in South Boston and also operates an office in Victoria, Australia. In July 2025 it became the first recipient of funding from Australia's ARENA Solar ScaleUp Challenge, which supports a first global fleet deployment with engineering firm Equans.
