Helsing is a Munich-based defence AI company founded in 2021 by Torsten Reil, Gundbert Scherf and Niklas Köhler. It builds AI-enabled autonomous systems across air, land, sea and underwater domains, including drones and software for frontline operations. The company sells to governments and militaries, most notably a large drone contract with the German armed forces. It positions itself as a European alternative to US defence technology firms. Helsing has raised a large amount of capital, with its most recent disclosed round being a $1.8 billion Series E in July 2026 at an $18 billion valuation.
