Drones & UAV · Founded 2012 · Private
Wing is an Alphabet company that began as a project in Google's X labs and graduated to independent status in 2018. It builds automated delivery drones that carry small packages from businesses to customers' homes in minutes. Wing's drones fly on a round-trip range of up to 12 miles at cruising speeds of around 60 mph. Customers order through partner apps, and staff at merchants hook packages onto a pickup station for collection. The company targets restaurants, grocery and retail, and healthcare, moving lab samples, supplies and prescriptions. Wing reports over one million commercial deliveries to homes and says its drones emit around 94% less than car deliveries.
