Elroy Air is a US developer of autonomous heavy-cargo drones for defence, rapid response and commercial logistics. Its flagship Chaparral is an uncrewed VTOL aircraft carrying 500+ pounds of cargo, with a hybrid-electric powertrain offering range of up to 450 miles and no need for runways or charging infrastructure. The company is working with the US Army on a multi-year contract worth up to $46 million, and has been tracking flight demonstrations under the FAA's eVTOL Integration Pilot Program. Bristow Group holds early delivery positions and a pre-order for up to 100 aircraft. Kratos Defence will manufacture Chaparral in Sacramento, with first production aircraft planned for late 2026. Lockheed Martin Ventures is a strategic investor, and the company is going public via a SPAC merger with Inflection Point Acquisition Corp. VII.
