Say Hi! to your next challenge — explore the opportunity and apply below!    Your mission   Hiab is looking for new talents to join its Autonomous Technologies team. The team performs state-of-the-art research, develops and integrates smart autonomous technologies for the next generation of load handling products with considerations of productivity, safety, and eco-efficiency. The team extensively utilizes science to overcome technical challenges for added value to our customers’ businesses. Our R&D covers everything from concept to final design, development, safety, prototyping, testing, verification, and validation. Our responsibility doesn't end with innovation; it ends with proven performance on the customer site. The team’s goal is to equip our products with reliable, high-performance robotic solutions built to perform.   This position offers a great opportunity for a seasoned engineer or a recent graduate to advance the automation of heavy-duty mobile machines and hydraulics. This is a position for an enthusiastic engineer to make an impact and contribute to the state-of-the-art control of highly automated systems, including autonomous and semi-autonomous machine automation. In this position, someone with expertise in robotics, automotive automation, hydraulics, and model-based design of control systems can extend his/her skills towards addressing cross-disciplinary long-term challenges.   You will put hands-on effort into model-based design (e.g. Matlab Simulink), rapid prototyping & automatic code generation, verification & validation, and ensuring that the model mirrors its functionality in different computing platforms based on standards and common practices. The target platform can be an RTOS, Simulink Real-Time target, or PLCs in e.g. the CODESYS environment. Our work mainly targets strategic research and technology development from proof of concept to a marketable solution for heavy-duty real-world robotics, and we can support the application of methods based on Robotics & AI for automated systems. The position also offers a great opportunity for a PhD/MSc student to complete his/her studies and grow professionally in a globally trending domain of work.  Key responsibilities   Design and implementation of state-of-the-art hydraulic circuits with load-sensing capabilities Walking through hardware implementation of state-of-the-art control and robotic solutions in collaboration with other Hiab’s development teams Validating and enhancing hydraulic system architecture for long-term reliability and maintainability Performing tests and measurements of automated machines and documenting results Providing support for R&D projects with algorithmic solutions for embedded hardware choices Active participation in defining systematic test methods for automated and teleoperated machines Active participation in the development of systematic solutions toward certifiable software implementations aligned with safety experts A key team player collaborating within a multidisciplinary team in coordination with long-term R&D projects of different product lines.  What we are looking for   Accomplishments in at least three of the relevant courses, such as hydraulics, heavy-duty machinery, robotics, automation, multibody dynamics, mechatronics, linear algebra, digital control, nonlinear control, and signal processing Programming embedded controllers (e.g., Codesys) in automotive setups with relevant protocols Matlab/Simulink and C/C++ programming, real-time operating systems, and PLC Coder is a plus Hands-on experience with sensors and hydraulic actuators and synchronized data recording Familiarity with industrial IoT is considered to be a plus Familiarity with visualization tools and CAD/CAE tools Strong Interest in research and study in new topics in the field of robotics and AI applications An analytical and problem-solving mindset Highly proficient in verbal and written English.  What we offer   As a part of our Employees First culture, we offer opportunities to grow within a dynamic environment that values flexibility and your well-being.
