About the role
Sunflower Labs is an internationally operating company providing a fully autonomous, AI-powered drone security system built to protect commercial, industrial, and residential properties. Security that flies ahead of every threat. About the Role We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to join our Manufacturing team and act as the technical bridge between R&D and Production. You will take ownership of released product data and turn it into stable, documented, and efficient production processes. This includes DFM/DFA review, production readiness, assembly instructions and SOPs, tooling and test-process support, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. We are seeking you, a professional with a strong foundation in manufacturing electronic or electromechanical products, hands-on technical troubleshooting, and practical programming or scripting used in production or test environments. Experience with robotics, autonomous systems, or similarly complex hardware is a plus. Your Responsibilities R&D to Production / Industrialization : • Own the transfer of released products, revisions, BOMs, drawings, specifications, and technical data from R&D into production. • Perform DFM/DFA reviews and identify issues affecting manufacturability, assembly, testing, quality, cost, or cycle time. • Provide structured manufacturing feedback to mechanical and electrical teams. • Define production readiness and ensure engineering changes are correctly implemented on the production floor. • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and transition prototypes into repeatable production. Production Documentation & Daily Support : • Create, approve, and continuously maintain assembly instructions, SOPs, test instructions, inspection instructions, and rework procedures. • Ensure production documentation always matches the latest released product revision. • Provide day-to-day technical support to technicians and remove process or tooling-related production blockers. • Troubleshoot assembly, test, fixture, tooling, and configuration issues and drive root-cause resolution. • Work with R&D when production issues require design, software, test, or documentation changes. Tooling, Lean & Continuous Improvement : • Develop, improve, and maintain production fixtures, jigs, test setups, tools, and supporting scripts. • Improve assembly sequence, workstation layout, standard work, material flow, and production methods. • Reduce rework, waiting time, manual workarounds, process variation, and cycle time. • Apply Lean Manufacturing principles such as 5S, standard work, visual management, and continuous improvement. Requirements • Several years of hands-on experience in manufacturing engineering, production engineering, industrialization, NPI, or a similar role. • Practical experience manufacturing and troubleshooting electronic or electromechanical products. • Strong understanding of assembly processes, production tooling, fixtures, testing, and manufacturing documentation. • Ability to independently review drawings, tolerances, BOMs, specifications, and released engineering data. • Practical knowledge of DFM/DFA, root-cause analysis, and structured problem solving. • Programming or scripting skills sufficient to understand, modify, and debug production or test tools; Python or similar is a strong fit. • Experience creating and maintaining assembly instructions, SOPs, and controlled production documentation. • Ability to work independently across R&D and Production and take ownership of manufacturing readiness. • Good spoken and written English. • EU/EFTA citizenship or a valid Swiss work permit. Nice to have : • Experience with robotics, drones, aerospace, automotive, or other complex hardware products. • Experience with both mechanical and electrical assemblies and production test systems. • Experience designing production fixtures, jigs, or test equipment. • Experience with FMEA, 8D, 5 Why, Lean, 5S, or Kaizen. • Experience with ERP/MRP or PLM systems such as Odoo, Aligni, or similar tools. • Basic German. Benefits • Flexibility to work from home when tasks allow, without fixed weekly work-from-home days. • Comprehensive training on products and production procedures. • Hands-on experience with advanced drone and robotics technology. • On-site parking, occasional team lunches, and team events. We are looking forward to receiving your detailed CV together with cover letter and certificates.
